Open Interest

This key introduces us to the Open Interest analysis, that is to the number of open contracts on the single strikes and expirations. The analysis and the evolution of the Open Interest are important aspects in the options strategies building and Fiuto devotes an ample space and numerous functions to this matter.
Opened the window of the Open Interest, as usual for first thing we will update data with a click on the special key.
NB: the single Exchanges don't update the data of the Open Interest in real time, but only at the end of the day and each one at different time. The best obtainable updating is therefore that one made at the end of the precedent day. Some verification will allow us to understand better at what time data are update by each single Exchange.

The first window that Fiuto prompts can be not easy to be read, especially if the histogram shows many strikes.


\\We can organize this first window for strike or for expiration, selecting the special function in the field “mode.”


We can maintain all data and enlarge only the histogram section of our interest so that to make it more understandable. To do this we position the mouse on a point to the window upper border, on the left of the interested area and, always with the pressed mouse, we square the area of our interest, moving it from left toward right. The enlargement of the selected area will happen with the mouse releasing.



We can reset the original area with the same operation, but drawing the square from right toward left.
As a rule however we are not interested to examine the totality of the strikes and expirations, but only those that are useful to our strategy and in line with its duration.
The function “3D” of the field “mode” support us

allowing to filter both the expirations and the strikes and limiting therefore the data to only alone information we are interested in.

The new window will prompt therefore a histogram limited to the information we have required. Through the small orientation wheels we can modify the histogram vision angle making it more clear and interpretable.
